President’s Message for the Holidays
A Successful Club Race if I Do Say So My Damn Self
What a great event. The weather could not be any more perfect, the atmosphere was laid back but still very competitive, the parties were typical of our region – meaning great food, drink, music, and company – and we had some of the best goodie bags and give-aways to boot! If there was anything to complain about, the field could have been larger but there’s something to be said about quality versus quantity.
There are so many people that worked really hard to put this event together, that I could write several paragraphs highlighting who they were and what they did but I’m just so darn lazy and undisciplined, I don’t see that happening. There are a few people who deserve special mention because they did such a fine job. Paul Tellarico, our club race chair, hit a homerun and can hopefully be persuaded to fill this position in 2007. Lois Wilken, our registrar, came through for MGR once again (this makes 612, I think), thank goodness for Lois. John Durham and Ian Foremaster, who made sure we had more than enough corner-workers, which we did. Thanks guys. Yvette Sutton, Cathy Crosby, and Lois Wilken for making sure the food was so awesome Friday night. Gary Small deserves recognition because even though he decided he was unhappy with the aerodynamics of his SP2 944 and thought he might improve them by smashing into the wall between turn 7 and 8, still made sure all the bills were paid before he left. Lane Sutton took care of the myriad of details that always flare up during an event such as this. And lastly, my wife, Cindy Foremaster, who is responsible for the program being as cool as it was even though I volunteered her for putting that together. And yeah, she was thrilled.
I would also like to thank Randy Greff of Greff Motor’s for being our title sponsor again this year. They once again provided some very cool give-aways as well as our pace car. Also, the Whiskey Bay Region PCA and Ron Gaubert deserve many thanks for their willingness to help and for their very generous financial sponsorship of our event.
Yes, I know. I have missed several deserving folks who are no doubt shattered that they were not mentioned but like I said, I’m a pretty lazy person and I’ve been writing this for at least 30-40 minutes which means it’s time for me to move on. Summing up, I would like to point out that we raised over $2500.00 for the Ronald McDonald House in New Orleans, which is the most important point of all.
Happy Holidays,
Scott Foremaster
