President’s Message for October 2006
Right Around the Corner
Well, our 2006 club race will be here before you know it and the club race committee is busy trying to finish all the details associated with hosting an event such as this. Paul Tellarico, our club race chairman, has been doing an outstanding job staying on top of each person within the committee to make sure that each is getting their respective responsibilities taken care of, in addition to keeping in contact with the national PCA personnel who will be here for our event. Paul also found time to attend the PCA zone 5 regional meeting held by our zone rep, Bryan Henderson, at the end of August in Dallas. In addition to meeting PCA national president Tom Bobbitt, Paul accepted Mardi Gras Region’s second place award in this year’s website contest. I’m happy to say that we were awarded runner-up out of over twenty-five regions with a membership of between 120-199 members. For those that don’t know, our website was designed and is managed by local business Digital Bayou HD Productions.
On another subject entirely, for those of you interested in the outcome of the recent MGRPCA elections, they were held successfully and with no injuries. I’m obliged to report that all the officers who held positions last year, hold the same positions for this year. I must also tell you that some of the officers were upset that they once again had to submit their last ten tax returns, a copy of their birth certificate or naturalization papers, their stance on the Hugo Chavez or Paris Hilton debate, and submit a paper on why they think orange could be the new brown. There are some other officer positions that are still available and if you would like to know what they are, please contact me so I can twist your arm to fill them.
Finally, there are a couple of notes I would like to mention. Chris Wilken will be assuming the DE chairman position after our club race. Lane Sutton has held that position officially for the last two years and unofficially for two years before that. It was with Lane’s blessing that Chris take over that position after the club race. Lane has done an outstanding job in coordinating and running our DE’s over the last few years. Give Lane your appreciation next time you see him. Also, Lois Wilken (our registrar) and Gary Small (our treasurer) worked hard and got everything sorted out so that we can now register online for any and all events within our region. Having online registration will make it much easier and less time consuming for people to register for our events. This is another big step for our club and may lead to world domination.
Hoping you always hit the apex,
Scott Foremaster
